Families in the Making
Foster Care and Adoption Talk Show

Families in the Making is hosted by: Kerri Charette of Connecticut Adoption & Family Services, Dana Simoni-Lee of Hearts Hands and Homes Community Collaborative for Foster Care and Herb Crouch from the Department of Children and Families Foster Care Recruiting Office. Families in the Making Informs Southeastern Connecticut Residents about Adoption and Foster Care Issues! Taped in the studios of Eastern Connecticut Cable in New London, Families in the Making is an example of how like-minded agencies can come together to achieve goals benefiting children. The half hour program, now hosted on a rotating basis by Kerri Charette of Connecticut Adoption & Family Services Dana Simoni-Lee of Hearts, Hands and Homes Community Collaborative for Foster Care, and Herb Crouch from the Department of Children and Families Foster Care Recruiting Office, is celebrating it’s third year on air. Sandra Couillard, Connecticut Adoption & Family Services Executive Director, explains why the Families in the Making collaboration between Connecticut Adoption & Family Services, DCF, and Hearts, Hands and Homes is an incredibly valuable family recruitment tool. “For two years (Connecticut Adoption & Family Services) maintained ownership of the Families in the Making show, bringing dozens of guests on air to speak about adoption and foster care issues. By partnering with DCF and Hearts, Hands and Homes last year, our three organizations are able to more aggressively recruit both foster and adoptive families for children in need.”Watch Families in the Making on these Southeastern Connecticut cable channels:

Agency News

  • Sep 16, 2009 - Families Needed:
We are now looking for Connecticut parents to adopt infants of all races, including African-American, through private domestic adoption. The waiting period has become much shorter over this past year, so domestic adoption has become a more viable option for many. As always, we are also seeking families to adopt CT state foster children through our grant-funded program "Project CT's Child".
  • May 1, 2009 - Check out the Heart Gallery
If you are considering adopting a child from the state foster care system, please visit the "Heart Gallery", a moving exhibit featuring portraits of waiting children. We can help you adopt these and other foster children. You can view these photos at: www.heartgalleryct.org
